Today Apple launched a new update for Safari Technology Preview, the experimental browser they first presented in March 2016. This update provides bug fixes and performance improvements for Web Inspector, CSS, Scrolling, Gamepad API, Media, Web API, and Accessibility. It also enables Shared Tab Groups and syncing for Tab Groups, Website Settings, and Web Extensions, which can be tested on Safari Technology Preview 16.4 or later running on macOS Ventura 13.2 or later, or macOS Monterey with Safari 16.2.
How to Udpate
The update is available through Software Update in System Preferences or System Settings to anyone that has downloaded the browser. The update is available to all users, regardless of whether they have a developer account or not. Furthermore, Safari Technology Preview can be used side-by-side with the existing Safari browser, so that users can compare the two and give feedback to Apple on their browser development process.
Release Notes
Full release notes for the update are available on the Safari Technology Preview website. Apple's goal with Safari Technology Preview is to receive feedback from developers and users on their browser development process, which can help them create a more efficient, secure, and user-friendly browser.
