iOS 16.3 and iPadOS 16.3 have been released to the public after several weeks of testing! This update is minor but still has some features worth mentioning.

Security Keys

One of the main new features is the support for physical security keys, which will add an extra layer of security for Apple ID accounts. This allows users to use a hardware security key as a two-factor authentication method for their Apple ID accounts, replacing the text message or verification code from another Apple device form of authentication. You can set up security keys by going to ‌Apple ID‌ > Security Keys.

Unity Wallpapers

The update also includes a new Unity wallpaper designed to celebrate Black History Month, which takes place in February. If you want to learn more about the new Unity wallpaper, check out Apple Releases New Black Unity Wallpapers, Bands, and Watch Faces.

HomePod support has also been added for the second-generation HomePod introduced last week. The new full-size ‌HomePod‌ is similarly sized to the original ‌HomePod‌ but with a redesigned touch interface, humidity and temperature sensor, Thread connectivity, a U1 chip, and more.

Emergency SOS

Emergency SOS has been updated to prevent accidental emergency calls. A call can still be placed by holding down the side button and either the up or down volume button, but now they must be released to place the call.

iPhone 14 Display Issue

An issue that could cause horizontal lines to temporarily appear on the iPhone 14 Pro Max's display when it is first woken has been addressed, and the lines should no longer show up.

Bug Fixes

The update also includes several bug fixes, including issues with Freeform, the Lock Screen, and Siri. It also addresses a long list of security vulnerabilities.

iOS and iPadOS 16.3 offers new features and improvements that will enhance your overall user experience. These features are designed to make your device more secure, reliable, and convenient to use. It's always a good idea to keep your device up to date, so make sure to download and install the latest version of iOS.
